The cold months are here and my skin is definitely not at its best. This means I have to work harder and use less makeup to soothe and hydrate it during the first cold days of the year. I still use argil masks once a week, but I’ve also introduced a few new items such as a serum and a new tinted cream. I’ve never bought a serum before as I believe it is a product for older skins and it can be quite expensive, plus I was not sure how to apply it or when to use it. A kind shop assistant recommended one to me because she claimed it would help soothe the redness on my skin and heal a few pimple scars
that didn’t want to go away. I decided to follow her advice.
After a month of usage, I am quite happy with the serum. I pat it on my skin in the morning and sometimes also before going to bed. That’s the step which goes between cleansing the skin and applying a moisturising cream. My skin tone has improved and I am now starting to apply it a little bit less often because I am afraid my skin will get too used to it and that will affect natural collagen production –
possibly just a silly fear of mine. I’ve also bought the tinted cream of the same line. The coverage is almost inexistent but it’s fairly hydrating. Let’s say it’s good but it’s not wow.
To improve my skin complexion and not to look like a zombie, this year I’ve started using a St Tropez everyday fake tan. It is fairly light and easy to apply, but most of all does not leave darker spots on my body. All you need to do is just spread that over your body as if it was a body cream, let it rest for 3 minutes and rinse. My only problem is that internet connection in our bathroom is pour so every time I ask Siri to set the timer, it doesn’t listen to me.
I also wanted to mention a couple of makeup products that I’m using a lot. They were both gifted to me by a special friend of mine who loves makeup and somehow always knows what looks good on me. The first one is a palette that is basically a dupe of the famous Naked. This one is by Makeup Revolution London and has very similar shades to the Urban Decay one. I don’t own the Naked but I am extremely satisfied with this dupe. The colours are well defined and they last for a w h o l e day, I totally recommend it. It has a pretty long name, which is: Redemption Palette Iconic 1.
In winter I love to wear red lipsticks because I find they light up not only the face but the whole outfit as well. I prefer tints to lipstick because they last longer and they are easier to apply, but in this post I’m going to mention a matte lipstick by Maybelline, number 510. I love this dark, soft red with a light brownish shade, it reminds me of Christmas and of all those gorgeous women you see in French movies. It is not too difficult to use and lasts at least until dinner. I find that it looks gorgeous with a cosy jumper and a pair of jeans.
So those are the products that are hopefully going to save me from looking boring and shallow during this winter. I’ve not been using a lot of makeup recently,
partly because I’m being lazy and partly because I think it’s better for my skin at the moment. I apply lots of cream and then pop a bit of lipstick to make my face look alive and off to work I go!
Let me know what are the products you are using at the moment and if you have some recommendations for me as well!
